Three surfaces, one system — and the process that kept design fidelity from falling apart at scale.

Health Harmony’s Connect 2.X was a care-coordination platform spanning a tablet caregiver portal, a native iOS bedside appliance, and admin web tools — three very different surfaces that had to feel like one product. I co-led the design and owned the production that got it built.

01The problem

Care coordination was fragmented across systems and roles.

Coordinating care means different people — professional care givers, family care givers, patients, admins — touching the same information from very different places and needs. Connect 2.X had to replace a patchwork with a single, role-aware experience that spanned a tablet portal, a bedside iOS appliance, and admin tools and still read as one system.

02My role

Leading from the middle.

I sat where the work actually converged: co-lead on the design itself, and sole lead on production — the design-to-dev pipeline that turns comps into shipped software. That middle position is unglamorous and decisive; it’s where a beautiful design either survives contact with engineering or quietly degrades.

Co-lead · design

Shaping the role-aware experience across all three surfaces.

Sole lead · production

Specs, annotated wireframes, redlines, interaction docs, acceptance criteria — across parallel sprint tracks.

03The design work

Role-aware, cross-platform, and coherent.

Role-based UX

One system that reshaped itself for the professional caregiver, the family caregiver, the patient, and the admin.

iOS bedside appliance

A native patient-facing appliance for the bedside — a very different interaction context from the tablet portal.

Medication management

One of the highest-consequence flows in the system — designed for clarity and safety.

Onboarding & user management

Getting the right people into the right roles, cleanly, at the start.

Architecture collaboration

Working with engineering on the structure underneath, so the design and the build stayed in step.

The admin web surface— onboarding a new customer, with real validation and success states.

Real Health Harmony (Connect 2.X) comps from the engagement — the tablet caregiver portal and the CI admin web tool. (The native iOS bedside appliance is described above; those screens aren’t included here.)

The tension, and how it resolved

Design fidelity doesn’t scale without process.

Three surfaces, parallel sprint tracks, and a lot of hands is exactly the condition under which a polished design turns to mush by the time it ships. What kept fidelity intact wasn’t more pixels — it was the production layer: specs, redlines, acceptance criteria, and durable communication cadences between design and engineering. The process is what lets the design survive being built.

Where it landed & what it taught me

A beautiful comp is a promise. Production is how you keep it.

Connect 2.X launched on schedule and under budget, replacing fragmented systems with a unified, role-aware experience — and left behind durable inter-team cadences between design and engineering. The lesson I carried forward: at scale, owning the seam between design and build is as much of the job as the design itself.

Outcomes here are qualitative — on schedule, under budget, systems unified. No adoption or task-completion figures were captured, so I don’t quote any.
